2004.605.1 - Book; "George Peabody Esq., An Interpretation by Philip Whitwell Wilson," dated 1926, no publisher listed. Copyrighted 1926 by Dr. Bruce R. Payne. This book begins with a reprint of a letter (dated March 31, 1926) from Calvin Coolidge, the President of the United States, to Dr. Payne, President of the George Peabody College for Teachers, Nashville, TN. With photographs. Front cover is plain except for a reproduction of George Peabody's signature. Inside front cover is a bookplate printed with the words "PRESENTED TO" and "With Compliments of." Written in ink by hand underneath "Presented To" is the name "Mr. Courtenay Dimwiddie," and written in ink by hand underneath "With Compliments of" is the name "Bruce R. Payne." Printed at bottom of bookplate is "COPY NO." and written in ink after it is "IV-96." On page opposite inside front cover is a bookplate from the Maryland Historical Society featuring the Society's crest, and typed beneath "Purchase / May, 1948."
